BJ is a theological conservative. He believes in the
inerrancy of the Scripture. He subscribes to the
Baptist Faith and Message
of the Southern Baptist Convention. He believes:
- There is one God who is in three persons, God The
Father, God The Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all. He
created us in order to love us.
- All of mankind is fallen by nature and sinner by
choice, thereby separating all from fellowship and relationship with our
God and Creator. That the only hope for man is to believe on the Lord
Jesus Christ, the virgin-born Son of God, who died to take upon Himself
the punishment for the sin of mankind, and who rose from the dead, so that
by receiving Him as Savior and Lord, man is redeemed by His blood.
- Salvation is by the grace of God through faith in
God the Son,
that faith itself is a gift of God. No ceremony or work is capable of bringing anyone
to God for salvation
- We believe it is important to uphold the
Scriptural practices of the early church. Therefore we believe:
- Baptism by a local congregation is the first act of
obedience and witness that a new believer can give to a lost world.
- And we hold to the practice of regular
participation in the Lord's Supper and believe that it serves as a
demonstration of our living faith in Christ.
- The church consists of those who have asked Christ
to forgive them of their sins and be the Lord and Master of their lives
and have followed the Lord in believer's baptism.
- The church is the institution that God established
for the proclamation of the Gospel to a lost world.
- Every believer needs to affiliate with a local body
of believers in order to grow, share in the joy, and work of the Lord.
- The tithe is the Lord's. Offerings are given above
and beyond the tithe. The tithe is to be paid to the local church with
which the believer is affiliated.
- That Jesus Christ will soon personally return to
earth in power and glory.
- That the Holy Spirit indwells those who receive
Christ for the purpose of enabling them to live righteous and holy lives.
- The mission of the church is worldwide
evangelization and the nurture and discipline of Christians.
- The offices of the church are: "And he gave some
. . . preachers; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the
edifying of the body of Christ:" (Eph 4:11-12 KJV).
-
ALL of the church is called to carry the Gospel to
those who have yet to trust in Christ.
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved
and the lost: they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they
that are lost unto judgment.
