Are You On The Right Frequency?

By Evangelist John BJ Hall

So many times we fail in our attempts at communications. Sometimes the problem has to do with “harmful interference”. The problem could be caused by Sun spots. It could be caused by signals from other sources, machinery, electrical lines, etc.

I am a certified Skywarn Storm Spotter for the National Weather Service (NWS). In an active weather situation it is critical for communications to reach the right people at the right time. In those situations NWS establishes a “weather net” on prearranged frequencies.

The first thing that MUST happen for a weather net to be successful is for all the spotters to be on the right frequencies. If they are not, not only will they not receive important information, they will not be able to report on conditions where they are.

There is other factors that plays into participation in the weather net. One must have the right PL tone. This is the tone that gives you access to the repeater. You can have the right frequency in your radio and hear the information, but if you don’t have the correct PL tone you can’t check into the net.

How does all this apply to Christ and the Christian message?

  1. You must be on the right frequency – As Jesus told Nicodemus, “You must be born again.” The frequency in this case is John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
  2. You must have the right PL tone to complete the communication – The Holy Spirit is the one who gives us access to the Father and the Son. Acts 1:8. “but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

You may be able to listen to a sermon, a Bible study, or even a personal witness, but unless you have the PL tone of the Holy Spirit you will not be able to understand the message and the hope that is held within it.

There is an old song that says it well, “Turn your radio on” which says “Come and listen into a radio station where the mighty hosts of heaven sing. Turn your radio on turn your radio on. If you want to hear the songs of Zion coming from the land of endless spring Get in touch with God turn your radio on.
