Christ Liveth in Me

By John BJ Hall

To whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.  Colossians 1:27

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Galatians 2:20

Here we have a song of joy for those who have trusted in Christ and have Him living in them. In Philippians 4:8 Paul wrote, “ Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” Certainly one of those truths is the wonderous thought that Christ lives in me.

In the original poem the first stanza lyrics were “As lives the flow’r within the seed, As in the cone the tree, So, praise the God of truth and grace, His Spirit dwelleth in me.” One day that seed will spring forth and we will stand before our Lord and “We will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.” (1 John 3:2)

Father, I praise You for sending Your Son to die for me, and Your Spirit to dwell in me. Thank You for giving the Light, to show me the way. Help me to live so that others will see You through me. Amen.
