Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4
§§§§§§§§§
At some point in life, everyone comes to a time when they have a broken heart. It might be a lost love. It could be a relationship that has gone sour. Or it could be the realization that we have a broken relationship with God. In particular one might think of when the prophet Nathan confronted King David about his sins of adultery and murder (2 Samuel 12) The result of the sin was the death of the child born to David and Bathsheba.
Psalm 51 is David’s confession and prayer for forgiveness. Just as King David found forgiveness in the Lord, so we can find hope and deliverance by turning to Christ. The second stanza of this hymn speaks of the cleansing fount. David had prayed, “Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.” (Psalm 51:2)
When we come to the Lord for cleansing, He fills us with his eternal love. So, bring your brokenness to the only one who can mend your heart.

Father, thank You for healing my brokenness, cleansing me, and making me whole. I trust You completely and surrender myself to Your grace. Amen.
