He Lifted Me

By John BJ Hall

He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay; And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. Psalm 40:2
§§§§§§§§
The Psalmist was prophesying concerning the death burial and resurrection of the Messiah. But in a very real sense, he was also prophesying our salvation.

Paul said it this way, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who indwells you.” (Romans 8:11)

If you have been lifted up in Christ you have the greatest reason to rejoice. When I sing this hymn I can’t help but think of Peter out for a stroll with Jesus, on the water. “But seeing the wind, he became afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” (Matthew 14:30)
We must NOT take our eyes off the Savior.
§§§§§§§§
Father, thank You for lifting me out of the miry clay.  Thank You for your tender hand. I will keep my eyes on You and trust You. Amen.
