I love the Lord, because He hears My voice and my supplications. Psalm 116:1

The melody of this hymn most likely came from a time in American history when Christians would conduct camp meetings. The chorus in particular was considered a “traveling refrain.” It would be sung in conjunction with other hymns like Amazing Grace or Alas and Did My Savior Die.
At some point, the refrain was merged with the verses of Oh, How I Love Jesus. This marvelous hymn revolves around the name of Jesus. What a wonderful name! The name of Jesus promises us great blessings from the Father.
We are instructed to pray in the name of Jesus (John 14:13-14; Ephesians 5:20). It is through and by His name that we are justified (1 Corinthians 6:11: Acts 4:12). In Jesus name we find healing (James 5:14)
There is no name so precious as that of Jesus. He came to live among us and die for us. What a wonderful name!

Father, I come to You in the precious name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus. Through His name, I come boldly to the throne of grace. His blood has washed me and made me a new creature. I give myself to serve You and thank You for saving me in the name of Jesus. Amen.
